The Last Medal!

Story Featuring Gunner and Sarge

Storyline

The ever-joking Colonel Hakawa sends Sarge a Japanese medal for bravery! Why?.. Gunner, Sarge, and Pooch get ambushed and Gunner is strapped to the front of Hakawa's tank so US forces steer clear. Sarge disguises as a Japanese soldier and rescues him. Hakawa air-drops a medal - but pulls a sneak air attack! Scattered, the Marines follow Pooch to Hakawa's camp where the Colonel is receiving a medal. Shooting the ceremony up, the Marines run - and Pooch shows he stole Hakawa's real medal!

The 14-Day Target!

"The black Pfalz on my tail was piloted by a man who'd never known defeat!"

Storyline

In WW1, a rookie flyer is told new pilots rarely live past 14 days. After that, they've "got a fair chance to live". The rookie posts a calendar in his cockpit and flies out. In dogfights he's rescued by wingmen as the "blacked-out calendar" in the sky haunts him. Still he survives, and sweats out his 14th day. Huh? It's crossed out too! With no worries, he shoots down the leader of the German pack - then learns his captain secretly crossed out the 14th day back at base! "So you'd forget your fear. I guess it worked!"
